Grades: 10, 11, 12
Prerequisite: Engineering Architecture and CAD
(Computer-Aided Drafting) Fundamentals
1 Credit
This one-year course introduces students to the language and communication of engineering and
architectural design. Students will interpret prints, draw mechanical engineering components, and architectural
building systems. Students will draw mechanical stock items such as bearings, brackets, shafts, and other general stock items used for both engineering and
architecture. Students will be introduced to structural systems, related print reading, its components displayed on working drawings, detail drawings, bill of
materials, specifications, schedules, and documents.
By the end of the second semester, students will interpret and draw site plans, building system design,
its relationship and applications to architectural design
and construction. Students interested in mechanical
engineering will also practice print reading for assemblies, details, and layouts of mechanical drafting
and design.
